Railway Overbridge Approved in Maskanwa, Relief from Traffic Congestion Soon

Gonda: In a major infrastructure boost for the region, the government has approved the construction of a railway overbridge (ROB) in Maskanwa, a move expected to significantly ease chronic traffic congestion in the busy market area. The project has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹88.90 crore, with over ₹22.71 crore already released in the first phase, indicating that construction is likely to begin soon.

The proposed two-lane overbridge will be built between Maskanwa–Lakhpat Nagar railway stations at Km 615/8-9, along the Dumariyaganj Gaura Chowki–Katra–Ayodhya road, at Railway Level Crossing No. 237 Special. The crossing has long been a bottleneck, causing frequent traffic jams and delays for commuters and traders alike.

Once completed, the overbridge is expected to ensure smoother and safer movement of vehicles, reducing travel time and minimizing the risk of accidents. Local businesses and daily commuters are likely to benefit directly from improved connectivity and reduced congestion.

Kirti Vardhan Singh, Member of Parliament and Minister of State for External Affairs, welcomed the approval, calling it a “milestone project” for regional development. He emphasized that both the central and state governments are committed to strengthening infrastructure and enhancing public convenience.

Echoing similar sentiments, Prabhat Kumar Verma, MLA from Gaura constituency, said the demand for an overbridge in Maskanwa had been pending for a long time. He noted that the project would bring much-needed relief from traffic snarls and reduce accidents in the area.

As per official guidelines, the project will proceed after obtaining technical approvals, and funds will be utilized strictly under prescribed norms. Any cost escalation beyond 10 percent will require submission of a revised proposal.

The approval has sparked optimism among residents, who see the project as a step toward faster development and improved quality of life in the region.
